Hello! I'm Alexa, I received my Bachelor's degree in psychology at The Ohio State University and went on to get my Master of Occupational Therapy degree at University of Findlay. I attended grad school on the weekends while living in Columbus, and working on the behavioral health unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. I worked with kids aged 4-18 and did a number of behavioral interventions and de-escalation techniques. We helped the kids work on coping skill building, emotional regulation, development of communication skills, as well as providing support for accompanying individual and family therapy sessions. Since joining the Flourish family, I've become a member of the feeding team and have had the opportunity to become trained in the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding, and do a lot of work with picky eaters. I’ve loved all aspects of occupational therapy, but pediatrics has a special place in my heart. Getting to be creative and meld play with function is the most rewarding part of my job!
